Caroline Pidgeon, the Liberal Democrat London Assembly Transport Spokesperson, commenting on RMT leadership's threat of strike action following the offer of two-year, above inflation pay offer to their members said:
"When Londoners are facing such harsh economic times and many are even facing unemployment it is amazing that the RMT leadership can even consider unleashing the economic damage to London's economy that strike action would bring.
"Across the public sector zero pay increases are increasingly becoming the norm and TSSA are already recommending that the offer be accepted. And let's not forget that fares have already been hiked up significantly above inflation this year hitting many Londoners on low incomes. It simply beggars belief that the RMT leadership think that they can isolate themselves from the realities of life facing so many other Londoners."
