L to R: Caroline Pidgeon AM, Baroness Ros Scott, Equalities Minister Lynne Featherstone MP and Sarah Ludford at London Pride 2010.
On Saturday 3 July Sarah joined the Liberal Democrat delegation marching with London Pride, a colourful annual celebration of LGBT rights. After the event, she said:
"London Pride was great fun again this year, with much good humour, outrageous costumes and beautiful weather. It showed the broad-based support for equality for gay people which has however only been achieved through decades of campaigning. We need to remember that equality in law and practice has not been achieved even across Europe, and people are still persecuted and killed everywhere purely because of their sexuality."
Sarah, a devil and an angel!
"Senior LibDems were there in force; I was joined by Brian Paddick, Caroline Pidgeon, party president Ros Scott and our equalities minister Lynne Featherstone. We got a good reception from the crowd, who appreciated that the Liberal Democrats are the only party that has consistently supported LGBT rights - and is now doing so effectively in government."
